On Friday November 14, 2008 Phoenixville Area Community Services, PACS will hold an Empty Bowls Dinner Event at Artisans Gallery & Café from 5 to 9 pm.

The Empty Bowls Project began in Michigan in 1990 by a group of students who were looking for a project to help support a food drive in their community. The project has spread throughout the world including our Phoenixville Community which embraced this event last year.

This year, in addition to local artist, students including some from Phoenixville High School and many other schools, are donating the ceramic bowls. This project is also being supported by donations from many Phoenixville Merchants and Restaurants and volunteers.

For a $20 donation, you may choose a ceramic bowl. Then, hop into the soup line for a nourishing dinner of soup and bread. You keep the ceramic bowl as a reminder that people throughout the world go to bed hungry every night.

Tickets are available at PACS’ office during the business day. Please call 610-933-1105 or e-mail development@pacsphx.org. Tickets will also be sold on First Friday at Artisans Gallery and Café on Friday November 7.

All proceeds from the event will support PACS’ charitable mission, “connecting people in the Phoenixville area with community resources and emergency assistance.”

October is Breast Cancer Awarness Month Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Wednesday, October 15 2008 @ 04:35 PM EDT
    Contributed by: Anonymous

General NewsThe American Cancer Society has named October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in order to call to your attention that now is the ideal time to make sure that you are taking effective steps for early detection. They recommend that all U.S. women:

-Obtain yearly mammography screenings, beginning at age 40
    -Obtain yearly clinical breast exams
-Check their breasts regularly for lumps
-Discuss their breast cancer risk with their physician

Breast cancer remains the #2 leading cause of death among U.S. women. But more than 2 million women in America are living healthy lives after having been treated for the disease. While rare, men are also at risk for developing breast cancer.

Also keep in mind: Flu Season is upon us, and your local premier immediate medical care facility is offering 19$ flu shots if you mention your local church/synagogue. Have a healthy and safe thanksgiving!

Your local Premier Immediate Medical Care is at 450 Cresson Blvd, Oaks Pa.
