Thursday, November 13 2008 @ 05:57 PM EST Contributed by: BKnight

Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club - Annual Model Railroad Open House (since 1975)
Happy 40th Anniversary - we were formed in 1968
See freight and passenger car trains rumbling over 700 feet of track,
over high trestle bridges, through towns, around mountains and through
tunnels along the right of way from Reading to Philadelphia. Hundreds
of buildings, vehicles, people and trees create realistic scenes on the 1,000+ sq. ft. layout.
Numerous buttons allow visitors to bring scenes to life! See Thomas
the Tank Engine and try your observation skills on our new scavenger hunt.
For our 40th anniversary we have been "workin' on the railroad"
updating 3 areas of the layout. Come see what is new this year.
You could win a train set!
The 2008-2009 schedule is 1:00 - 5:00 pm

| Empty Bowls Dinner to Benefit PACS |
|
Tuesday, October 28 2008 @ 10:09 AM EDT Contributed by: Anonymous
|
October 28, 2008
Contact: Joann Miller
610-933-1105 Ext. 213
On Friday November 14, 2008 Phoenixville Area Community Services, PACS will hold an Empty Bowls Dinner Event at Artisans Gallery & Café from 5 to 9 pm.
The Empty Bowls Project began in Michigan in 1990 by a group of students who were looking for a project to help support a food drive in their community. The project has spread throughout the world including our Phoenixville Community which embraced this event last year.
This year, in addition to local artist, students including some from Phoenixville High School and many other schools, are donating the ceramic bowls. This project is also being supported by donations from many Phoenixville Merchants and Restaurants and volunteers.
For a $20 donation, you may choose a ceramic bowl. Then, hop into the soup line for a nourishing dinner of soup and bread. You keep the ceramic bowl as a reminder that people throughout the world go to bed hungry every night.
Tickets are available at PACS’ office during the business day. Please call 610-933-1105 or e-mail development@pacsphx.org. Tickets will also be sold on First Friday at Artisans Gallery and Café on Friday November 7.
All proceeds from the event will support PACS’ charitable mission, “connecting people in the Phoenixville area with community resources and emergency assistance.”
